THE IMPORTANCE OF BALANCING OUR MIND-BODY-SPIRIT
On Earth, one of our most important spiritual tasks, is to align ourselves with the beautiful nature of our soul and allow it to govern our daily lives! In life, the concept of Mind-Body-Spirit balance, helps us to achieve this task.
The first aspect of our existence we must control is the Mind/Ego. It is our inner thoughts and dialogue. It has a negative energy and effect on our journey.
When left unobserved and without discipline, it tends toward the negative, operating out of fear and doubt. Furthermore, when left unchecked, it will grow with negativity, gathering strength and size with its negative achievements in our lives, like a snowball that is rolling downhill. During our lives, the longer we leave this aspect of our existence to freely impact us, the more difficult it becomes to bring it under control and steer it on a positive path. The Ego affects us negatively in a number of ways. It creates negative beliefs in our life that cause us to operate in fear like the fear of death, or the fear of GOD, fear of the future and the past, fear of the unknown and others that are not like us. It is noisy, distracting, and loves to judge other people and things based on its flawed beliefs. It creates drama and conflict in our lives and feeds on this negativity. Finally, The Ego, the negative aspect of the mind, depends on the five sense reality and so works against any spiritual growth. So then, in order to bring this first part of the mind-body-spirit trio into balance, we must calm our thoughts and bring our awareness out of the past and future and focus on the now. We must observe and be aware of our thoughts, at every moment of every day of our lives, and identify and challenge those thoughts that are based in fear, doubt, and judgment. From a mindfulness based in the moment, we are able to replace this negativity with its opposite every time. Serenity, love, trust, acceptance, avoidance of conflict and drama, will melt away the snowball of the mind and allow us to bring it into a state of balance and positivity.
The second aspect we must bring into balance is the Body. This is the vehicle that we use to house the soul during our physical incarnation. The body is an amazing machine and can be our enemy or our friend if cared for, but either way, it will affect our quality of life and is an equal influence on our soul journey. In order to bring it toward the positive effect, we must love and accept our bodies. No matter how it looks, it’s age, shape, size, color, strengths and weaknesses! We must be one with our body for it will retaliate if not loved, nurtured or cared for. There is a limit to the body being out of balance after which it will begin to self destruct.
The way we avoid this is to establish a positive self image. We must exercise and drink plenty of clean, natural water. In spirituality, water and exercise consider to be medicine for the body. We must be mindful of our Chakras and our Chi/ life force, and bring these into balance within our bodies so the energy can flow through us unobstructed for the body to be in a positive balance. And finally, clean, natural, healthy food and plenty of rest will also promote the positive within the physical body.
And finally, we come to the Spirit. Spirit refer to Three important spiritual concepts.
First, we must understand that we do indeed have a soul. Our soul is the essence of what we are, our true nature! Our Spirit/Soul is a powerful, fearless, multidimensional, light being, that is having this experience on planet Earth and is the core of our being. Our soul uses the Earthly incarnation to grow and become closer to GOD. Secondly, we also must understand that the soul’s perspective is completely opposite from the mind’s. The soul approaches challenges in life as opportunities for it’s growth like loneliness, illnesses, poverty, handicaps, and others. How we handle these challenges will determine the level of growth we achieve for our soul in any given incarnation. In life, one of our important spiritual task, is to align our mind with the soul’s perspective. We must observe and challenge the mind when it reacts to an illness with fear and frustration, for example, and instead re-orient this reaction to that of the soul. The soul will view it as a challenge to be overcome with a positive result, no matter the outcome of the challenge. For the soul, all that matters is how the challenge was dealt with. This is with the intention of strength, positivity, dignity, and without allowing the inner negative mind to have any effect. This will clear a path for the soul and allow the higher, self-wisdom, positive power, to guide the life. And Thirdly, the Spirit represents spiritual truth. we must act in a spiritual manner consistently throughout our daily lives.
We must be real and authentic, kind and loving. We must practice what we preach!
Good Luck!
