Ego Alert: The need to change/control others
The Ego common thinking: I am wiser, smarter,older, or more spiritual aware than you. And therefore: I know best, It is my job to help you, you should know that I am right, be more like me, accept and agree with me, you need change, and change already!
Spiritual perspective The life of other adult human beings is NOT our business! Our souls are here to grow through the use or misuse of our Free Will. Obviously, if we use it wisely, we will grow. However, even when we don’t, even when we make the wrong choices, we will also grow!
In an Earthly incarnation, we each spiritually grow in different ways and in different pace, and so it is NOT our place to force or manipulate our opinion, advice, or help on others, even if we know that we might be right and helpful. An authentic spiritual way to help someone change is by offering your opinion, advice, or help and then BACK-OFF in order to give the other person the room to decide for themselves.
Of course it is easier said than done especially if you are a parent or in a relationship, which is precisely why you try your hardest with your adult kids and life partner.
